日米学生会議70周年リユニオン in ハワイ

7月29日から31日にかけてホノルル（ハワイ）で行われた行われた
日米学生会議の70周年を記念するリユニオンに参加してきました。
日米学生会議に参加したのはもう12年前の話。まだ英語も日常会話が何とかできる程度でとても苦労してペーパーを書いた覚えがあります。一ヶ月間、アメリカ学生40人と日本学生40人とで過ごした夏。新しい発見の多い夏でした。
今回のリユニオンには30年・40年以上も前に会議に参加された大先輩もいらして、昔から脈々と続く伝統を強く感じました。現役学生が持つ理想主義、ちょっとナイーブに聞こえるところもあるけれどオトナになる過程で時に忘れがちな純粋さ・未来に対しての楽観主義をいい意味で刺激されました。今年の会議も残すところあと2日。今頃はプリンストン大学で最後のまとめのころですね。この秋には一般公開される報告会もきっとあるのかな？、是非一ヶ月で彼らが何を感じたか、聞いてみたいな、と思っています。
